Budget Forklifts for 2015

As the 2014 season comes to a close, I’m very excited to be racing with Budget Forklifts cycling team for 2015…

Amusingly back in early 2013 I won some Budget Forklift kit through a Facebook competition when I didn’t know what the NRS was and who Budget Forklifts really were! I thought this was the greatest. You’d find me wearing the black and yellow kit regularly on my local rides, and even wore it to the Hells 500 Epic in April 2013 for the 220km crux loop in the Dandenongs. (Strava File)

Being part of a big Continental team (Australia’s biggest) will provide the opportunity to race in some sweet UCI races potentially including the Herald Sun Tour, various Asian tours, and hopefully a couple in America, while the majority of the season is still focused towards the NRS in Australia.

Personally I believe this is really what I need next season. The ability to continue to develop in local races with great support while also getting in some experience from international and domestic UCI tours will provide the right environment for my development.

In case you haven’t seen it, here’s a list of the full team for 2015:

Jack Bobridge
Luke Davison
Glenn O’Shea
Mitch Mulhern
Scott Sunderland
Wes Gough
Sam Horgan
Kristien Juel
Sam Witmitz
Tom Nankervis
Myron Simpson
Jake Kauffmann
Brodie Talbot
Michael Torckler
Josh Berry
Daniel Barry
Brendan Canty

It’s a strong team with plenty of experienced riders so I’ll be able to learn bucket loads again next season. After all, there are not too many guys in the NRS who have experienced a handful of years racing in World Tour like Jack Bobridge has!

My role within the team will be that of a climber, and depending on who’s in the team and what the forms like at each tour, there’ll probably be plenty of support riding involved and hopefully a couple of opportunities here and there to go out and get my own results if I have the legs.

In saying all this, I’ll be sad to say goodbye to the Health.com.au-Search2Retain team from this season. I had a great year and I cannot thank them enough for the support throughout 2014!

Other than a change of team colours in 2015 you’ll still find me consuming donuts at the local bakeries, talking strava segments and hanging out with the Peak Cycles bunch on most Saturday mornings!!!

Thanks for reading,
BC

  5. Been around. Riding a cervelo r3. Just not as many hours as you. Going to Lake Mountain tomorrow, or maybe not. Rain.

    1. I might have an r3 in the family soon too! Yeah tomorrow’s weather is looking sub optimal…

  6. Well done on your selection into Budget Forklifts. All your hard work is paying off. You’ll have a great year there, out in the wider world and on the Net.

  7. Congratulations! So you’ll be riding a Cervelo? Of the bikes you’ve ridden so far, which has been your favourite? What can you say about the qualities of the different bikes?

    1. Yep, Cervelo in 2015!! I still haven’t really ridden too many different frames yet… only the BMC team machine slr01 and this years Wilier cento 1 (my very first bike – bianchi c2c alu doesn’t count) …so it’s hard to say. Different wheels and componentry probably have a reasonable influence too. Maybe ask me in 5 months after spending time on cervelo 🙂

  8. Congratulations BC. Great to see all the hard work is paying dividends. All the best for the 2015 season.

  9. Hi Brendan. Did you do the peaks ride Sat morning? I was coming back into Eltham about 9am when it looked like you and about 4 others went past me.

    1. Yeah i was on the peaks ride, good chance it was me…

  10. Super TT ride in TOB. Well done
